About the artist:
The Andros Hertz project is an echo of the self-portrait series called Narkes. The name realtes to androginia and to an unit of frequency of one cycle per second, that usually it is the benchmark for data processing in personal computers.
Andros Hertz is the name of many characters produced by digitally manipulated self-portraits. These manipulation act sometimes in a subtle way - a small change in the ratio between nose and mouth-, other times, in an incisive way - the deformation of the ocular globe or widening of the lips. To each new self-portrait, a figure that preserves its original characteristics appears, but it is perceived as a new face.
The digital manipulation, as the name suggests, does not create new data. It works with the latent possibilities in each image. At this point, the authenticity of the image or the subject identity became blur. Can these new faces be considered as new identities once they thrown away its original condition?
